Start Your Creative Journey
Over the course of eight classes in four weeks, this advanced training challenges you to trust your instincts, sharpen your craft, and expand your creative mind. Designed for experienced, working actors, this intensive focuses on nuanced material, complex characters, and the demands of real-world auditioning and on-camera work.
You’ll move beyond “performing” and into a space of fearless, intuitive creation. By using your imagination, lived experience, and the character’s history to build specific, grounded lives, you’ll bring emotional depth and spontaneity to your work – whether auditioning, self-taping, or working on set or stage.
This class pushes you out of your comfort zone and into bold, present, and connected creation. You’ll also continue to develop fluency in Margie’s Haber Phrasing™, giving you the tools to quickly break down a script and deliver truthful, connected work with little prep time.
Please note: This class is for advanced actors only. Participants must have significant professional experience in film, television, or theater. Diane Charles
Diane has a unique skill set that serves her well as a teacher and acting coach with the studio. As an Executive Producer, she was nominated for an Emmy Award and Producers Guild Award for the Showtime series, Web Therapy starring Lisa Kudrow. In addition to working with Lisa, Diane has worked with and produced series starring Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Will.i.am, Diablo Cody, Mindy Kaling, Jack Black, and more – producing over 270 pieces of celebrity-filled content. Diane has a screenwriting credit and also coached the actors for the feature film, Jungle Cry, and recently directed the feature film, The Choices We Make. Prior to her work in development and production, she was a successful television, film and theatre actress in Chicago and LA. After receiving her BA in Telecommunications/Theatre from Indiana University, where she studied Stanislavski, she moved to Chicago and studied the Meisner approach. Her work has included starring in a play written and directed by Joe Mantegna; a film lead opposite Roger Daltrey; a four-year recurring role on The Young and The Restless, a five-year contract as the television spokesperson for Advil, along with many other television, commercial and theatrical roles. While acting, she simultaneously received an MA in Psychology from Antioch University. While having a private counseling practice, she also led workshops for actors, musicians, models, agents, casting directors, and studio executives, to help them achieve their goals. Having now worked with the Margie Haber Studio for nearly 10 years, Diane brings her experience in acting, producing, casting, and directing, to help actors learn to trust themselves, and replace their panic with power and passion. Regularly working with film leads, series regulars, and guest stars, she gives actors tools they can use to feel more confident in understanding and owning their auditions and tv/film/theatre roles. She also brings an empathetic and intuitive approach to her teaching to help actors feel more authentic and powerful in their own lives. Connecting with people – whether in the classroom, or in life – in a way that helps them feel more seen and empowered is what brings her real joy.
Jim Nieb
Jim brings over 35 years of experience and training to the Margie Haber Studio Team in Los Angeles. Conceived in Germany, born in Ohio, and raised just outside of Washington, DC, Jim’s professional career acting career began in 1991 performing improv and stand-up comedy around the Washington, DC area. Since then, Jim has done every type of performing and acting from clowning with the Big Apple Circus’ Clown Care Unit at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, to Shakespeare in the park, to fire-eating and celebrity impersonations, to film and television. Jim has worked with such directors as J.J. Abrams (Star Trek) and Clint Eastwood (Changeling). Over the years Jim has worked on dozens of commercials and most recently has made frequent appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC in a variety of sketches. Though one of Jim’s strengths has always been comedy with training that includes ComedySportz LA and The Groundlings, his dramatic training goes deep and is grounded in truth, being based in the Meisner technique he received from Playhouse West where he trained from 2005 until 2010. Teaching has always been a passion for Jim. Margie’s positivity and the supportive nature of the Margie Haber Studio Team in Los Angeles, combined with a program which so positively helps actors get out of their own way and into their bodies allowing for more truthful work, is what drew Jim to the Margie Haber Studio Team. Margie’s philosophy is a perfect complement for the Meisner training he’s so well versed in already.
