Advanced Intensive
In this 4 week (8 session) intensive, you’ll learn how to use your imagination to create ‘scenes’ (slices of life). When you deeply inhabit the life of your character, you’ll find there’s no fear when creating. You will dig deeper into your core using specifics (from the script or ‘slice’) and your unlimited imagination. Discover more complex, challenging material while still taking risks and living in the moment (and your body). Lean into the discomfort and excitement of the unknown as we explore both the creative and practical challenges of complex auditions and on-camera work.
This class will continue to explore the Haber Phrasing™ so you can confidently nail a script ‘read’ with little time to prepare. Move away from technical approaches and into a world of instinctive and intuitive ‘acting’ (creating).
Instead of trying to impress the casting director, you’ll step into your own power. Through the use of specific imagined details, you’ll create characters who fully show up while you’re auditioning, cold reading and on set/on stage. This class will take you OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE and into the joyful world of creation.
IMPORTANT: This class is for advanced and experienced actors only! To participate you should have some significant real world experience working in film, television or theater. Please send us your materials (resume, reel, IMDB link, etc.) to [email protected] for consideration OR attend one of our free intro class sessions (see upcoming dates under the “Contact” tab above) to audition with one of our instructors and receive your class level placement that way.

Jim Nieb
Jim brings over 35 years of experience and training to the Margie Haber Studio Team in Los Angeles. Conceived in Germany, born in Ohio, and raised just outside of Washington, DC, Jim’s professional career acting career began in 1991 performing improv and stand-up comedy around the Washington, DC area. Since then, Jim has done every type of performing and acting from clowning with the Big Apple Circus’ Clown Care Unit at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, to Shakespeare in the park, to fire-eating and celebrity impersonations, to film and television. Jim has worked with such directors as J.J. Abrams (Star Trek) and Clint Eastwood (Changeling). Over the years Jim has worked on dozens of commercials and most recently has made frequent appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC in a variety of sketches. Though one of Jim’s strengths has always been comedy with training that includes ComedySportz LA and The Groundlings, his dramatic training goes deep and is grounded in truth, being based in the Meisner technique he received from Playhouse West where he trained from 2005 until 2010. Teaching has always been a passion for Jim. Margie’s positivity and the supportive nature of the Margie Haber Studio Team in Los Angeles, combined with a program which so positively helps actors get out of their own way and into their bodies allowing for more truthful work, is what drew Jim to the Margie Haber Studio Team. Margie’s philosophy is a perfect complement for the Meisner training he’s so well versed in already.
